Nakia came to the Hayward Shelter as a stray. She was microchipped, but attempts to reach her owner failed. Her microchip history showed that she was adopted out from the Oakland Shelter a couple years prior. After being at the shelter and in foster care for nearly a year, her time had run out, so we pulled her into our rescue.

For a senior dog, she is in surprisingly good health. She is friendly, low energy, good-natured. She is “dog-selective” and would likely do better as the only dog in the home (although her foster family has friends with a small dog that Nakia got along with).

Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13.
